Süd-Chemie is a worldwide leading specialty chemical company with headquarter in Munich, Germany. The common denominator for all their products and innovations is the efficient and sparing use of natural resources to enhance the quality of life for humans and the environment.

Catalyst division at Süd-Chemie offers solutions for chemical, petrochemical and refinery industries, e.g. gas-to-liquid process as well as for energy storage, hydrogen production and off gas purification.

Key markets served by their adsorbent division include consumer goods, packaging and foundry industries as well as paper and plastic industries, and water treatment.

By the end of 2010, Süd-Chemie had approximately 6,500 employees at their 80 production and sales sites worldwide.

Süd-Chemie for many years has been expanding their presence in the Middle East, until ultimately, by July 2005, Süd-Chemie Qatar W.L.L. was founded as a local joint venture aiming to provide catalysts, water treatment chemicals and customer services to the growing needs in the Gulf region and beyond.

Finally, in June 2008, Süd-Chemie became the first catalyst manufacturer to commission a catalyst production plant in Qatar. The plant is situated in Mesaieed Industrial City and supplies catalyst to customers worldwide with a special focus on the fast growing market of Qatar and the Gulf states. The catalyst are used to convert natural gas into diesel through gas-to-liquid (GTL) process, as well as in other process to convert natural gas into higher grade chemicals.
