Catalytic Emission Control for Formaldehyde Production

Exhaust gas from formaldehyde production typically contains volatile organic compounds (VOC) like dimethylester, methanol and formaldehyde. The primary pollutant is carbon monoxide (CO).

A sufficient share of the usually existing oxygen in the tail gas makes catalytic treatment the first choice to purify these emissions: an oxidation catalyst reduces organic compounds and carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and water. Süd-Chemie's EnviCat® air purification catalyst series offers precious metal catalysts for the totaloxidation of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons.

Efficiency

Typical conversion rates of VOC-oxidation catalysts:

Even at a low temperature of 200° C the catalytic conversion rate is almost 100%.

Durability

The total oxidation process can lead to an internal temperature up to 700° C EnviCat® catalysts have a high thermal stability for long term service under difficult conditions.
