12/15/2008 - Süd-Chemie focuses on continuity and renews contract with Deputy Chairman of Managing Board Dr. Hans Jürgen Wernicke

The Supervisory Board of Süd-Chemie AG, Munich has reappointed Dr. Hans Jürgen Wernicke, 59, as Deputy Chairman of the Managing Board. A contract running from 1 July 2009 to 31 December 2012 has now been signed. As Deputy Chairman of the Managing Board, Dr. Wernicke will continue to be responsible for the Group‘s Adsorbents Division and for the Central Function Technology and Investment Management.

Dr. Wernicke, born in Walsrode, studied chemistry at Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel, from which he also obtained the doctorate. After working eight years for The Linde Group in Munich and South Africa, Dr. Wernicke joined Süd-Chemie in 1985. At Süd-Chemie he held various positions with growing managerial responsibility including Project Manager in South Africa and Business Unit Manager in the U.S. and in Germany, before he was appointed to the company‘s Managing Board in 1997. In 2007 he has appointed as Deputy Managing Board Chairman of Süd-Chemie AG.
