On July 28, 2008 Sud-Chemie has finished one of the largest single investment in the company's history and officially opened its expanded production plant for SORBACID® and HYCITE®.

Over the past twenty month, Süd-Chemie has invested around EUR 20 million at the Moosburg site, tripling its hydrotalcite production from 5,000 tons to 15,000 tons per year. With this step Süd-Chemie secures its leading position in the growing market for PVC and Polyolefin stabilizers.

In the wake of a voluntary agreement on the part of European manufacturers to progressively reduce the use of lead for PVC stabilizers and dispense entirely with heavy metals by the year 2015, the market for hydrotalcite is growing at a high speed. Due to the additional rise in the demand for Süd-Chemie's hydrotalcite which is expected over the next few years, consideration is already being given to extending production capacities even further.
