- Marked rise in positive outlook for the full year 2007

Successful first six months 2007

Süd-Chemie Group has continued its successful performance during the first six months of 2007, achieving significant increases in sales and profits as well as net income.

Süd-Chemie Group sales rose by €64.3 million or 13.7% compared with the first half of 2006 to reach €533.0 million. The increase in sales was due mainly to a sharp rise in the demand for Süd-Chemie´s catalysts for refineries and petrochemicals in the Catalysts Division.

Operating profit (EBIT) rose by €20.6 million or 63.7% to €52.9 million. This positive performance was driven largely by higher plant utilization due to rising sales in the Catalysts Division, as well as higher selling prices. The Adsorbents Division also reported a positive earnings performance.

Profit for the first six months of 2007 reached almost the same level (€24.8 million) as in the first half of 2006 (€25.1 million). Account should however be taken of the fact that the interim profit reported in 2006 included a positive earnings contribution of €10.3 million accruing from the sale of the Pet Products Business Unit. Adjusted for this effect, the consolidated interim profit rose by €10.0 million, 67.6% higher than the 2006 figure.

Optimistic outlook for the full year 2007

Süd-Chemie Group will significantly exceed its Group targets previously forecast for the 2007 financial year which anticipated revenue of approx. €1.05 billion and a rise in profit from operations (EBIT) at least of 10% compared with 2006. Following a successful performance during the first six months, consolidated Group revenue of approx. €1.1 billion is expected for the full year of 2007 and a Group EBIT increase of some 20% compared with 2006.
