02/12/2007 - Reinforcement for Süd-Chemie’s Managing Board

Dr. Hans-Joachim Müller to join the Managing Board. Board member Dr. Hans Jürgen Wernicke to become Deputy Chairman.

Süd-Chemie AG, Munich, a leading global specialty chemical company producing adsorbents and catalysts, has strengthened its management team.

With effect from 1 April 2007, Dr. Hans-Joachim Müller (born 1959) has been appointed to the Company’s Managing Board. He will take over responsibility for the operative business units Catalytic Technologies as well as Energy and Environment. At the same time, board member Dr. Hans Jürgen Wernicke (born 1949) has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Managing Board where he will be responsible for the business units Adsorbents and Additives, Performance Packaging, Foundry Products and Specialty Resins as well as Water Treatment.

Since 2001, Dr. Müller has managed Süd-Chemie’s global business unit Catalytic Technologies which, with more than 1,500 employees and 17 production sites, is the Group’s largest business unit. He has made a significant contribution to Süd-Chemie's leading market position in the international catalyst business, having promoted its targeted expansion in the form of joint ventures, partnerships and takeovers, in addition to strong organic growth, particularly in Asia, the Middle East, the USA and Europe. Prior to this, Dr. Müller, holds a doctorate in chemistry, worked for over twelve years in various management positions for BASF AG, Ludwigshafen.
