06/21/2006 - Sale of pet products business complete

Süd-Chemie to focus on six core areas of activity

On 20 June 2006, Süd-Chemie AG, Munich has now completed the sale of its Pet Products Business Unit, which comprises the company Gimborn GmbH, Emmerich and its subsidiaries, to the German financial investor, Capiton AG, Berlin. The trans-action was already approved by the German antitrust authorities on 9 June 2006.

The selling price amounted to €28 million, before deduction of financial liabilities and pension obligations. In 2005, the activities sold generated sales of €55 million. All 274 employees, 112 of which are based at the business unit headquarters in Emmerich, Germany, have been taken over in the context of a management buy-out.

The feed additives produced by the Adsorbents and Additives Business Unit and used to deactivate fungal toxins in animal feed will not be affected by the sale (Toxisorb® and Fixat®).

After focusing its portfolio, Süd-Chemie is to expand its leading global positions in the market sectors of catalysis, food and feed additives, foundry products and performance packaging, as well as energy and environmental technology.
