09/07/2005 - Süd-Chemie donates water-treatment plant for hurricane victims

"Aquacube" supplies 2,000 litres of drinking water an hour


Süd-Chemie AG, Munich has donated a mobile “Aquacube” water-treatment plant for victims of hurricane "Katrina" in the US-states Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Within a day or two, the “Aquacube” water treatment plant will be delivered to the Mississippi Air National Guard at Gulfport/Mississippi, for placement in one of the hardest hit areas. “Aquacube” is capable of supplying 2,000 litres of drinking water an hour from ponds, lakes, streams or wells.

The mobile “Aquacube” water-treatment plant is being transported to the crisis region by plane to Atlanta/Georgia and then by truck to its final destination, Gulfport/Mississippi by Louisville/Kentucky based United Parcel Service (UPS).

An experienced member of the Süd-Chemie team who, following the tsunami disaster, also provided local assistance in the Banda Aceh region of Indonesia earlier this year, will be attending to on-the-spot installation and operation of the plant.
