The environmental and safety policy is a voluntary commitment exceeding legal requirements.
These principles emphasize the significance of environmental protection and safety within Süd-Chemie AG. The Süd-Chemie Group companies are obliged to apply the same principles.
1.
As an industrial company, we hold a responsible commitment to environmental protection and safety in our activities.
We therefore regard expenditures on environmental protection, and the safety of equipment and working procedures, as equal in importance with expenditure on product quality and cost-effectiveness in production.
We are therefore prepared to undertake measures over and beyond those required by legislation and the public authorities whenever we deem this necessary on our own responsibility under consideration of the environmental and economic aspects.
2.
Product-related environmental protection is an integral part of our responsibility.
We therefore take into account from the very outset of development the effects of our products on the environment and the public at large, both during and subsequent to their use.
3.
Production-integrated environmental protection is regarded as the goal.
It is therefore our aim in production to exploit all opportunities of saving energy and avoiding, reducing or recycling waste. Non-recyclable materials are to be disposed of in an environmentally compatible manner.
We therefore subject the environmental aspects of our production process to regular checking and analysis.
4. Plant and equipment safety is also of benefit to the environment.
In planning, installation and operations of all technical plant and equipment, security regulations are therefore to be complied with so as to avoid hazards and reduce risks to the greatest possible extent.
Operational safety is therefore to be ensured by means of thorough maintenance, regular tests and constant monitoring of plant and equipment.
5. We expect our employees to act with due regard for the environment and for safety. The prerequisite of this is that they be adequately informed with regard to risks in the sphere of their activities, and are aware of how to act in any given situation.
Every manager is therefore obliged to instruct and train his staff to ensure that they work with the proper awareness for the environment and safety. This also includes the usage of safety equipment.
6. We take the worries, the reservations and the need for information of the public seriously.
That is why we inform the public about our activities, targets and measures for protecting the environment and about any events that impact the environment.
7. We are committed to the further, continuous improvement of environmental protection and safety in all our activities.
At all levels of management, we therefore establish concrete targets of improvements to environmental protection and safety, and regularly monitor their realization.
According to our management principles every employee is therefore encouraged to call together an improvement circle in order to find a solution to his or her problem.
