Our programmes are designed to minimise corrosion, prevent scale and control fouling, whilst focusing on identifying water saving opportunities and maintaining cost effectiveness. The Total Management approach integrates the latest in chemical treatment with modern computerised technology and experienced service. From Total Water Management in the motor, mining, steel, petrochemical and food industries, as well as air washer treatment in the textile industry, Süd-Chemie provides a broad range of products and services to address the needs of industrial and municipal water consumers.

Mining Industry

Supplying quality, technologically advanced and economically competitive chemical products to the mining industry, is only half the story of our mining division.

Süd-Chemie is a leading supplier of halogen based disinfectants, antiscalants, viscosity modifiers, heap leach surfactants, condenser treatment, compressor treatment, mill circuit antiscalants, underground flocculation and other speciality chemicals to the mining industry.

New innovative technology and equipment capability has resulted in huge water savings for a large mining group making it possible to process underground fissure water to be filtered, softened and blended for use on the mine process water systems and for potable use. This has enabled a drastic cutback of local municipal supply, resulting in an exceptionally short pay-back period and multi-million Rand savings annually.

Süd-Chemie holds some of the largest Total Water Management contracts in the African mining industry.

Metals Industry

Süd-Chemie is heavily involved in the metals industry supplying its innovative Total Water Management techniques to every sphere of this industry, whether it be at an aluminium casting mill, or a steel rolling mill, SCWAPT is to be found managing the influent, process and effluent, with an on-site management team overseeing every aspect of the daily water treatment requirements.

Brewing Industry

Süd-Chemie plays a major role in the brewing industry today, as a result of the many innovative technologies introduced over the past 25 years. Our service includes superior pasteuriser treatment technology as well as boiler, cooling and PWR treatments that have been tried and tested in all major brewery accounts throughout the African continent.

Partnership models have been developed to bring excellent results to all other aspects of the brewing industry, such as superior technology in chain lubrication chemicals, bottle washing additives, CIP, cleaning chemicals, foamers, fermentation tank cleaning and sanitation, clear beer tank cleaning and sanitation, as well as filler CIP.

With this superior capability, Total Water Management and CIP Management of your brewery or packaging facility can now be handled by a single supplier.

Food and Beverage Industry

Süd-Chemie is the preferred supplier to a major portion of the sugar and starch industry on the African continent and is involved in the Total Water Management in a great number of these, treating boilers, cooling systems, process, influent and effluent.

The last few years has seen Süd-Chemie become involved in the CIP and sanitation processes in the canning industry as well as environmental management.

Other industries services include the soft drink market, major wine producers and bottling plants.

Motor Industry

Süd-Chemie has in recent years had a major impact on the motor industry, developing it’s unique form of Total Water Management involving systems such as E-coat and oily effluent, cooling water and humidification, paint flocculation and de-tackification.

Contracts have been awarded on a Risk and Reward basis, with cost structures being linked to production. This has allowed Süd-Chemie and its clientele to share in fully workable Alliances”. Süd-Chemie has also successfully backward integrated its products and services into the various motor support and supply industries.

Paper Industry

Süd-Chemie continues to make inroads into the paper industry. From water treatment of the various utility sections to our unique deposit inhibitor technology for deposit control in pulp mill digesters.

Our range of highly effective de-inkers allows the industry to meet tomorrow’s demands for a high quality de-inked finish and our new range of specialised pulping aids adds to our already substantial range of paper process chemicals.

Refinery and Petrochemical Industry

Süd-Chemie continues to focus on driving down the Total Cost of Ownership for our customers in this highly technical industry.

Süd-Chemie is a major supplier to this industry, from raw water clarification through pre-treatment, waste heat treatment, cooling water treatment, reformer treatment, overhead corrosion inhibition, process treatment, antifoams, flocculation as well as water and energy saving initiatives.
