Nylon Intermediates

For the hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexane, nickel catalysts are applied in either continuous slurry processes or in isothermal fixed-bed processes. A standard Süd-Chemie catalyst for the slurry process is NiSAT 320 RS powder, and for fixed-bed process we recommend our activated and stabilised NiSAT 200 RS.

Phenol to cyclohexanone. The catalyst performing this reaction is a Pd catalyst available on request.

Cyclohexanol can be dehydrogenated to cyclohexanone with the calcium zinc catalyst T-8401 or with the copper zinc catalyst G-132 A RS.

Adiponitrile derived mainly from butadiene + HCN is hydrogenated to hexamethylene diamine, an intermediate in the production of Nylon-6,6. For this application Süd-Chemie offers the cobalt catalyst T-4424 in fixed bed operations.

For the Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexane oxime to caprolactam Süd-Chemie supplies a catalyst on request.
